Do you need some outfit inspiration for your Christmas wedding?

Wedding dates have been made, or are being planned, as we approach Christmas, and your wedding outfit is on your mind; you want to make the day and time of year as wonderful as possible for you.

Of all, wedding clothing isn’t just about the bride and her gown – although it is – everyone else in the bridal party must also look their best!

As a result, there are several additional persons to consider. Of course, the bridesmaids’ outfits are a given, but what about the groomsmen’s attire?

Sure, you’ll recall the groom’s tux, but have you considered the flower girl gowns or a beautiful gown for your mother? Surely, you want the bride’s mother to look stunning as well.

Don’t forget about your reception outfit; many brides now change out of their gown into something more comfortable, which also protects the gown.

There’s a little more to think about than you would think, but don’t worry, I’ve got some fantastic ideas to help you pick your dress AND make sure the rest of your wedding party looks beautiful, if not quite as wonderful as you.

Your Wedding Gown

Begin with the fabric, which should be opulent, fashionable, and weather-appropriate (that is, it needs to be warm).

The ideal fabrics to use are beautiful velvets, brocades, taffeta, or matte satin, all of which would look stunning and not make you tremble at the altar.

It’s ideal to have a longer dress for a Christmas wedding or other winter wedding; trains and full sleeves work nicely and are extremely beautiful; you can easily change into something sexier later for the reception if you like that appearance.

Now it’s time to talk about colour for the holidays.

Although white or ivory remains the most popular hue, many brides are also choosing colour for their wedding gowns.

Dark pinks, burgundy, icy blue or aqua, tones of green, or even scarlet are good Christmas colours.

If that’s too much for you, but you still want a little elegance and colour, opt for a conventional white wedding gown with highlights in Christmas colours.

Another alternative is to wear a velvet cloak with a hood in a dark green, crimson or burgundy; again, try it with a velvet muff to match.

Wearing a holiday-colored ribbon around the waist and letting the ends run down the back is a simple yet charming way to incorporate your holiday theme.

A birdcage veil can be exactly the thing for you if you’re a totally contemporary bride.

If you’re wearing a classic ball gown, though, you’ll undoubtedly want a train and a beautiful cathedral-length wedding veil.

A bridal veil adorned with rhinestones is the ideal Christmas wedding veil for trendy brides.

Gloves are really stylish and Audrey Hepburn-esque, plus they also keep your hands warm in a colder winter environment.

Close-toed shoes are preferable, but strappy shoes are always fashionable, and you may wear them for the ceremony and/or reception while wearing something warmer before and after.

Groom’s Outfit

Let’s take a look at the person who will be standing next to you saying “I Do!” now that we’ve taken care of you.

The groom’s attire is determined by the type of wedding and the time of day, so think about it this way:

  • For an Informal Wedding: A business suit with a white dress shirt and tie is the standard groomswear for an informal wedding; however, the shirt colour isn’t fixed, and make sure the tie fits the suit and looks excellent.
  • The groom will typically wear a formal suit, a white dress shirt, a cummerbund or vest, and a four-in-hand or bow tie for a semi-formal, daytime wedding.
  • For a Formal, Daytime Wedding: The groom will wear a cutaway or stroller jacket, a waistcoat, striped pants, a white, wing-collared shirt, a striped tie, studs, and cufflinks.
  • The groom will wear a black dinner jacket, matching trousers, a waistcoat, a white tuxedo shirt, a bow tie, cufflinks, and a cummerbund or vest for a formal, evening wedding.

For a more formal wedding, the groom can wear a red, green, or metallic-brocade vest, or cummerbund and tie, with studs and cuff links in the shape of Christmas trees or candy canes, or a red, green, or metallic-brocade vest, or cummerbund and tie, with studs and cuff links in the shape of Christmas trees or candy canes.

The cummerbund is a great method to match the season and the colours of your wedding.

Its hue can be matched to any wedding colour accent on your wedding gown, a sash or accent on the bridesmaids’ gowns, or even the girls’ dresses themselves.
